Notes: "Josef Servag (Joseph C. Graves) created this device in July, 1955, presenting it to the printer at the press of the Hippogryph. Based on old devices, it was all that printer wanted in a pressmark: the fabulous beast on a solid background, holding ball stocks, wings spread, a flowing tail, and the sex of the beast no longer in doubt. The lettering was inspired by a letter designed by Rudolf Koch. The signet is here shown for the first time in a book. " © James Lamar Weygand
