Notes: "Mallette Dean's monogram pressmark was engraved on wood by him, in 1953, for his first book, Physiologus, an uncommonly handsome volume produced by him for the Book Club of California, for which he also engraved 54 other blocks and numerous initial letters. The bird above the initials represents the great white and blue herons of his own Marin County, California marshes." © James Lamar Weygand | |||
