Biographical/Historical Note

An iconic and immediately recognizable voice in the history of broadcasting, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame radio personality Dick Summer has left his mark in major media markets (Boston and New York City) and on NBC Radio. His "comfortable and familiar" voice and style have been showcased through national radio and television advertising campaigns (Binder and Binder, etc.) and his LOVIN TOUCH books of poetry have been published by Random House and Bantam Books. In addition to his contributions to the golden era of rock and roll music radio of the 1960s, Dick Summer also hosted popular and memorable late night radio programming (LOVIN TOUCH, etc.) showcasing his poetry and distinctive "raw silk" voice talents. He and his wife, Barbara Summer, head Dick Summer Communications (advertising, consulting publishing, commercial production, marketing, etc.) in Pocopson, Pennsylvania.

Contents List

Box
1 Night Connections (CD) - A 2003 compact audio disc compilation (produced, written and compiled by DICK SUMMER for DICK SUMMER COMMUNICATIONS) featuring the spoken word readings and narrations of radio personality, voice artist, poet, writer and "story teller" DICK SUMMER (including "A Disorganized Husband," "A Tiny Dancer," "A Workout Woman," "An Aging Wild Child," "A Helpless Lover," "A Chance Taking Wife," "The Rev. Father Flowers," "Mr. Hard Guy," "A Young Guy Trying His Best," "A Slip Away Wife," "A Real Friend," "A Couple in Concert," "A Single Rose" and "A Giving Woman"). According to the DICK SUMMER COMMUNICATIONS Web Site: "The night is full of staring faces, strange sounds, and unprotected touches. NIGHT CONNECTIONS is a collection of fourteen stories, mostly collected from listeners to Dick Summer's middle of the night radio program on NBC Radio. They are very short connections. But they will stay with you for as long as you stay with them. Connections are fragile. It is only touching you that gives them life."
1 Lovin Touch (CD) - A 2004 compact audio disc compilation (produced, written and compiled by DICK SUMMER for DICK SUMMER COMMUNICATIONS) featuring the spoken word readings and narrations of radio personality, voice artist, poet, writer and "story teller" DICK SUMMER (including "Playground," Growing Up," "Small World," "If It Weren't For Dreams," "Parking Meter Life," "Got a Minute," "Words," "Losers," "Walls," Softy," "The Rain," "Every Day," ""The Wizard of Was," "Airport," "Christmas Warm," "Winter," "Mirrors," "Who Are You?" and "You Shine"). According to the DICK SUMMER COMMUNICATIONS Web Site: "The LOVIN TOUCH stories have inspired highly romantic evenings for hundreds of thousands of listeners and readers, over quite a few years. They were first told on Dick Summer's late night radio program in New York and Boston. Then they were very successfully published as 'Poetry' by Random House and Bantam Books. The success of the books and radio performances inspired a line of jewelry and a series of greeting cards, and most importantly perhaps, sacks of letters from people who just wanted to say, 'Thanks for putting the way I feel into words.' The best discription for the LOVIN TOUCH stories would probably be that they are really the gentle ravings of a man who was suddenly shocked to find himself in love..."
1 Bedtime Stories (CD) - A 2008 compact audio disc compilation ("…for pillow talk…for dreams…for connections" - produced, written and compiled by DICK SUMMER for DICK SUMMER COMMUNICATIONS) featuring the spoken word readings and narrations of radio personality, voice artist, poet, writer and "story teller" DICK SUMMER (including "Nothing Happened," Price of Fantasy," "I Miss You," "On the Prowl," "For the Long Run," "The Dark," "Second Chance,", Mr. Small Talk" and "Got a Minute"). According to the DICK SUMMER COMMUNICATIONS Web Site: "BEDTIME STORIES are 'pillow talk starters' for when you have company at bedtime, and 'dream starters' when you sleep alone. Some of them are fictionalized versions of listeners' calls to Dick Summer's late night radio program on NBC Radio. Some of them are from Dick's own personal experiences. And a few are 'once upon a time' that all of us have lived. So you may find some of your own story, or the story of someone you've loved, or hoped to love, or almost loved... in BEDTIME STORIES."
1 Night Connections 2 (CD) - A 2008 - 2010 audio compact disc compilation (produced, written and compiled by DICK SUMMER for DICK SUMMER COMMUNICATIONS) featuring the spoken word readings and narrations of radio personality, voice artist, poet, writer and "story teller" DICK SUMMER (including "A Quiet Man's Woman," "The Piano Man," "Painting, Poetry and Passion," "Nicholas and the Shower Lady," "Daddy's Girl," "Not Again," "Temporary Friends," "Just Enough," "Ms. Long Hair," "The Lawyer Lady and The Hunk," "The Joy of Giving Thanks," "The Man Upstairs," "Dinner Date" and "The Headhunter's Woman"). According to the DICK SUMMER COMMUNICATIONS Web Site: "NIGHT CONNECTIONS 2, a soulful follow-up to NIGHT CONNECTIONS, is a collection of stories, mostly collected from listeners to Dick Summer's middle of the night radio program on NBC Radio. They are very short connections, but they will stay with you for as long as you stay with them. Connections are fragile. It is only touching you that gives them life."
