Vernon Sparkman (employed by the UF coastal engineering department) and his team studied the effect of Hurricane David.  Recording devices were placed for a fifty mile stretch along the coast and then collected after the hurricane so that the data could be analyzed.

Hal Batey, who sold groceries to the University of Florida in 1906 when the university began, talks about some of his experiences.

A longer interview of Hal Batey who mentions that UF was brought to Gainesville in 1906 because the city officials agreed to supply free water.  When Batey was mayor of Gainesville in the 1930 the city attempted to get the university to pay.  He also mentions the football team of 1924-25 which was known at the “Wreckin Crew” and included players as Crabtree, Coffin, Van Sickel, and Jones.

Pittsburgh Stealer player Rocky Bleier spent three days at UF to produce several TV spots about the problems of alcoholism and the work that the BACCHUS organization is doing.  Dr. Gerardo Gonzalez also speaks briefly.
