Summary:  R. Hillbom, artist.   A portrait of a standing man who faces to the left.  His upper body is shown.  Attention is centered on his face by the use of lighter flesh tones and the device of a large white collar on his shirt.  An ornate gold colored frame is used.

indios e Caboclos – 1990

Summary:  a poster produced for an exhibit at the Grinter Gallery from Nov. 9-Dec. 14, 1990 showing selected photographic prints from the Charles Wagley Collection.  The Exhibit went on tour for three years with the final one at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.  The 1940 photo reproduced on the poster generated a lot of publicity because of the nudity of one of the two Indian men pictured.

Summary:  A small poster advertising the World War II exhibit in the exhibit area in Smathers Library.  The exhibit dates were December 7, 2001 to March 2, 2002.  The poster included a picture of the exhibit cases and a small inset picture of one of the posters in the exhibit.

Summary:  A large poster advertising the exhibit in the exhibit area in Smathers Library.  The dates are March 25 to May 24, 2002.  The exhibit highlights the movies in which sound was used and includes many posters, ephemera, collector items, and photographs.

Summary:  A large poster in black, lavender, ochre, white, and pale green.  The poster announces The Conference on Comics and Graphic Novels 2002 to take place February 20-21, 2002.  The conference was sponsored by The University of Florida's nascent Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere.  The entire poster has drawings of comic book characters.

Summary:  A flier announcing the annual Independence Day celebration at the UF Bandshell with music, picnic on the grass, and fireworks on July 3.  Sponsored by Accent and WUFT-FM.

Summary:  A small card with the lyrics to a song (possibly the familiar "There is a Tavern in This Town....").  The lyrics are satiric yet contain an element of pathos as the "song" refers to the Florida Agricultural College in Lake City.

Summary:  A small poster advertising a musical recital at the Florida Union building on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 9:30 P.M.  No year is included but it was probably in the late 1930s.  The poster was among the items donated to the Archives by Mr. Harry Philip Edwards.

Summary:  A playbill from a production of Shakespeare's "As You Like It" on May 23, 1899.  The names of the actors and the characters they play are listed as well as the acts and scenes.  The play was presented by Florida Agricultural College.

Summary:  A small poster with a list of the events organized and planned by the George A. Smathers Libraries.  Included were a film festival, lunch discussions, a staff luncheon, and displays.

"Free All-day International Film Festival"

1 leaflet:  b & w, 28 cm x 22 cm.

Summary:  A leaflet, which is folded in half, which presents information about "The Writing on the Wall Project".  For a week students, staff, and faculty wrote prejudicial statements on the cement block wall which had been constructed on the Plaza of the Americas.  On January 31, 2003 it was ceremoniously torn down after addresses by two guest speakers.

Summary:  The third of the nine items.  A single spaced typed letter dated August 29, 1944 which has a sardonic message.  The letter is from a Wm. H. "Candy" Chandler to the Most Honorable Reverend Thomas R. Hinkle, W.C.T.U.

Summary:  The fourth of the nine items.  The envelope in which the correspondence was placed (G-239c).  The return addressee was Wm. H. "Candy" Chandler, Counselor on Liquers and it was addressed to "Most Righteous, Honorable, & Divine Reverend Thomas R. Hinkle".

Summary:  The fifth of the nine items from the Law School bulletin board.  The "poster" is part of some in house law school humor.  At the top is hand printed, "Announcement of Organization  EAST Publishing Co."  On the other side is a poster announcing hospitality for Baptist students and friends at the BSU House at 1840 West University Avenue.  Information was typed.
