About the Archives

The Architecture Archives was established in 2004 with the mission to preserve archival drawings and other historic materials related to architecture and design in Florida and the Caribbean, to support and promote humanities education and scholarship, and to support the preservation of the region's built environment. The Archives has now become in a relatively short period the the preeminent archives program in Florida and the Caribbean collecting historical records relating to architecture, landscape architecture, planning and design.

The Architecture Archives is a collaborative effort between the Smathers Libraries and the UF College of Design, Construction and Planning. Archives personnel work closely with faculty, staff and students within the School of Architecture and the Landscape Architecture department and other academic units to identify and acquire important collections, provide researcher services, arrange and describe archival materials, preserve and secure holdings, create educational programs and exhibitions, and promote the availability of these resources.

For further information on the diverse Architecture Archives collections, please contact: John Nemmers, Archivist in the Department of Special and Area Studies Collections.
